A service for students and teachers
TrainingHalls.net is an online database of martial arts schools designed to connect aspiring students with a convenient place to learn. It aggregates listings from school owners and from public information sources and provides an easy-to-use means to find a convenient martial arts school.
How it Works
For Visitors
Visitors looking for a martial arts school will search our database to find viable locations. Each school listing provides a map that gives a context of the school's location to note if it is convenient. When they find a location, they have the option of sending an e-mail to the school to request additional information (school e-mail addresses are not shared). They will also have the opportunity to contact you by phone (if provided).
For School Owners
TrainingHalls.net provides school owners with an additional means of attracting students in their area. As the internet is replacing traditional phone book as a marketing option, school owners need new effective methods for putting their school on the map. TrainingHalls.net provides this opportunity by providing a self-managed and affordable marketing tool to school owners.
How it started
I'm an avid martial artist and have been since childhood. Through my career choices, I have always had a difficult time maintaining my training regimen. While in college in the late 90's, I conceived of a web-based database of martial arts schools that contained very detailed information about a school from the school owners themselves.
I launched TrainingHalls in May 1998 and have developed it over the course of many years. It has been a school database, a martial arts web portal, a book archive, and many more things. With this relaunch, I am updating the backend technology and revamping the school database. It will serve as an application for connecting those interested in martial arts with school owners who want to teach.
I hope that this site provides a meaningful purpose to those looking to begin or continue their development through martial arts.
